Simple Shoes

I’m so sad that one of my idol companies Simple Shoes has gone out of business! I was planning to wait until my old sneakers got holes in them to buy some but I wanted to make sure I got some before they became unavailable. I ordered these from Moo Shoes and they came quite quickly.

PS: I feel like i’m walking on air… must be the recycle tire sole hehe.

PSS: I think the next best thing would be adbusters shoes. Check em out!

Reasons I Love Public Transit

Snowed-in bus

via kevinharding2

  1. You get to meet cool people.
  2. It is an opportunity for missed connections.
  3. When the bus is full and I have to stand I like to pretend I am surfing… or riding a magic carpet.
  4. When riding the 145 Bus down Burnaby Mountain I like to sit in the very back centre seat and pretend I am riding a horse.
  5. Some people smell really good.
  6. You get to overhear the funniest and most delightful conversations.
  7. You can run into people you know.
  8. You get to see the lower-mainland and the city from above via the Skytrain.
  9. You can stare at the good-looking strangers.
  10. You can use your time in transit to enjoy a good book, album or conversation via text message.
  11. It is an opportunity for adventure : D

expressing my concerns

Why do people so often view themselves as the most important creatures on the planet? Or themselves as the most important person? As a human, I can see how it can sometimes be difficult to look outside ones self. You are you, after all. What else is there? A lot, as it turns out.

With each decision you make so many other are affected. How will other people feel about it? How will other creatures feel?

I sometimes express my concerns about the decisions of others. I feel it is my right to. We all share this planet. We all need to co-exist. What if someone I know was torturing someone else? I wouldn’t just stand by and watch. But no one will listen to my concerns if I don’t express them in a way that makes other comfortable and able to listen to my concerns. I’m still trying to find out what that manner is.

The purchasing and the plastics and the paper waste… it all makes me very sad. I can see why others might be offended when I express concerns but I wish I could make them understand. In speaking out against the lack of compassion I have created a lack of compassion. Funny how that works.

Eco Leader Training!

I just completed my application for the No Impact Project’s Eco Leader Training! This is such a cool opportunity! I was able to visit New York on a high school trip and I always said I would be back. If there is one thing Hawaii taught me it is that if you want to go somewhere and do something you should just go. Don’t wait for people, or money, or time. Just do : )

I wrote about No Impact Man after reading the book and watching the film. I hope you educate yourself about personal impact also!
